Newsletter Extra: One on One with Ambassador Susan Rice

Hi everyone. I’m sending a newsletter extra because I had the chance to speak with former Ambassador Susan Rice.
Few people have been “in the room” when major decisions are made as often as Ambassador Rice. She served as President Obama’s National Security Advisor and was US Ambassador to the United Nations in the Obama Administration. She was also director of the Domestic Policy Council in the Biden White House, and she served on Clinton’s National Security Council and in the state department.
She makes a forceful case for electing VP Kamala Harris. I believe it’s worth your time because she speaks with authority and deep knowledge.

President Trump’s relationship with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. Of the Bob Woodward reporting that Trump and Putin held private conversations since leaving office she says, “Every American needs to ask themselves what they could be talking about?” She breaks down the implications of a too-friendly relationship with the Russian leader.
She discusses Trump’s promise to undertake mass deportations here at home and warns that a future Trump administration could “denaturalize” US citizens. She says that when he was president, Trump established an office in the DOJ to promote “denaturalization” and his campaign promises to “turbocharge” that effort. Says Rice, “the prospect of stripping American citizenship from people who are living, and working and paying taxes honestly in this country….ripping them out of the fabric of this nation and sending them god knows where is a horrific prospect,” and she says, “we have to take this seriously.”
We also discuss Trump’s threats to abandon NATO allies and the implications for US security. And we get into the conflict in the Middle East — including Israel’s planned strikes on Iran and Iran’s nuclear ambitions as well as the hopes for ending the war in Gaza and bringing hostages home. Note that the interview was conducted before Israel reported killing Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
Finally she makes a case for Kamala Harris as commander in chief.
