RFK Jr, HHS and MAHA: Fact and Fiction

A conversation about nutrition science with Jessica Knurick.

RFK Jr is now HHS Secretary and he plans to translate some of his strongly held beliefs into government policy. To understand the science — or lack thereof — behind his chief nutrition claims, I spoke with Jessica Knurick. She is a registered dietician with a PhD in nutrition science. She knows her material and explains the issues clearly and with compassion.

We talked about RFK’s claims about seed oils, artificial dyes, high fructose corn syrup, US farming subsidies, how US food regulations compare to those in Europe and more. She shares her thoughts on the Make America Healthy Again movement and how she thinks public policy could better support public health.
